Case Studies

‘Early adopters' are exploring working to the AECB standards in both new build and refurbishment projects, for domestic, educational, small public, community and commercial scale developments.

The projects underway database will contain members who are aiming for the targets described in the AECB energy standards in one or more of their projects.

In total, AECB early adopters are currently working on:

  • Silver standard projects totalling 36,000 square metres of construction
  • Gold standard projects totalling 13,500 square metres of construction.

At this stage in the development of the CarbonLite Programme, these projects have been aspiring to the standards, and cannot be formally certified until the CarbonLite accreditation route is fully developed.

Some 'early adopter' projects are aiming for the whole building performance targets, others are focused on specific areas of the standards e.g. a high performance building fabric.
